Why Go Local?
Our goal at Go Local Boom is to raise awareness of the importance of supporting locally owned businesses in the Albuquerque area. At a time when we may have fewer dollars to spend it just makes sense to do business where we perceive and receive the best value for our time and money. We are bombarded by daily ads from many corporate and national chains competing for our time and money. And sometimes it’s important to be reminded of how important it is for us to support our local area businesses. Top Ten reasons to Think Local – Buy Local – Be Local (originally posted on Sustainable Connections. See link below)
Connecting Neighborhoods to Local Business
Buy Local — Support yourself: Several studies have shown that when you buy from an independent, locally owned business, rather than a nationally owned businesses, significantly more of your money is used to make purchases from other local businesses, service providers and farms — continuing to strengthen the economic base of the community. Connecting Businesses to Each Other
Keep our community unique: Where we shop, where we eat and have fun — all of it makes our community home. Our one-of-a-kind businesses are an integral part of the distinctive character of this place. Our tourism businesses also benefit. “When people go on vacation they generally seek out destinations that offer them the sense of being someplace, not just anyplace.” ~ Richard Moe, President, National Historic Preservation Trust
